Ross and Sara’s Vintage-Inspired February Wedding

by Molly Brantley on April 17, 2018

Now for the wedding counterpart to the Arcade Mall Rehearsal Dinner.  It’s not everyday your little brother gets married, so we pulled out all the stops for our owner Sarah’s brother Ross & his fiancé Sara.  With a jewel tone color palette and a generous amount of creative freedom, we knew we had something special on our hands.

Their vintage-inspired February wedding at the Millstone at Adam’s Pond in Columbia, SC, is rife with moody garden florals, velvet details, and draping garlands.

Renaissance Revival Rehearsal Dinner

by Molly Brantley on January 24, 2018

When our owner, Sarah’s brother Ross got engaged last year, she knew it was time to realize the rehearsal dinner that only dreams are made of.  (Well that, and being the event florist in the family, it was merely the responsible thing to do.)  With family ties to the most beautiful building in Columbia, SC (in our humble opinion), the Arcade Mall on Main Street, it was decided there would be no better place to host a seated dinner for 100, than in the atrium of Columbia’s oldest shopping center, located in the center of the city’s newly revitalized Main Street district.

Still dripping with beautiful, untouched antique details of the building’s early 1900s Renaissance Revival style architecture, the setting itself gave us all the heart eyes.  The goal was to create the banquet hall of all banquet halls – we brought in luxe navy velvet linens, accented with touches of golden yellow (hello, hand dipped beeswax tapers) and vintage brass candle sticks.  We styled the tables with Japanese inspired ikebana floral arrangements in custom gold-dipped vessels, mixed with the more traditional brass budvases and large glass trumpet vases filled with lush cherry foliage to had height and layers.

Incredible vendor team: Jessica Rourke, Southern Way Catering, Margaret Crabtree (place cards), Minted (invitations & menu cards)

So, without getting too carried away on all the magical details of this evening event…we’ll just let the photos do the rest – professional shots captured by Lilianne Victoria with a few more candid ones from the evening courtesy of Sarah’s iPhone.

Celebrating the Holidays at Fern Studio

by Molly Brantley on January 5, 2018

We had a busy holiday season, spent sprucing up the Studio and inviting our community in to share our love of flowers! We love hosting workshops and giving our guests a little glimpse into the floral design world and the skills they need to create beautiful designs at home. It doesn’t get any better!

In December we also announced that we’re opening up the Studio for private event rentals! It’s the perfect cozy place for any intimate gathering and we’re excited to share it with you. Visit eventsatfern.com for all the details!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Thanksgiving Centerpiece and Wreath Workshops! Here are a few snapshots of our time spent flowering together.

Cheers to 2018 and  another year of nature toting!

Fall in the floral world is such a showstopper when we get a bride like Alex, who embraces the color the season offers.  This plus her request for a fresh take on a cascading bridal bouquet and we were all. in.  On top of that, we designed a multi-layered, whimsical floral chandelier suspended over her cake table.

Add in the amazing talents of wedding planner and designer Meagan Warren (can we talk about that velvet linen?!) and photographer Holly Graciano and the results are stunning. Here are some of our favorite details of Alex and Jason’s October wedding!
